Well this is scary

NYT Culture Editor Jonathan Landman took the latest buyout offer that NYT made to reduce staff, and the executive editor says that Landman's replacement will be announced within two weeks — the only replacement not named today.  This means that Alastair Macaulay and his girl-goons will be editor-free for possibly two weeks.  They could cause a lot of trouble during that time.  Alastair might even resort to once again using the term balletomane which Landman took away from him because he constantly used it incorrectly and in a pejorative sense.  Or, he might start up again with alas-this or alas-that.

Still, Jonathan Landman hasn’t taught Macaulay a darn thing about reviewing ballet. Maybe his replacement will send Macaulay to ballet boot camp. I understand they have classes for older adults in the city. Could be a good experience for Mr. Eyes Wide Shut.

Angelica, I totally agree that a critic cannot adequately review a ballet performance without having stood at a ballet barre and actually studied the art form at some time in his life. If you’re not familiar with the basic DOs & DON’Ts of the art form, you cannot appraise what others do. These pretenders like Macaulay do nothing but harm the art form.
