Update #2.1 – The arts are building

From last night's starry opening night (note little stars in background and big stars in foreground) of the new and fabulous Tarkington Theater at the Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel, Indiana, here are ABT's Stella Abrera and Gennadi Saveliev in the Bedroom Pas de Deux from Le Corsaire.

I saw stella in the audience at the Joyce tonight. It was all I could do not to go over and tell her she’s a principal in my eyes, even if not in you know who’s….

Yep, I saw her there, too. Several times during the first piece that used the Firebird music, I kept thinking how stunning she would be in a classical Firebird. I hope Ratmansky’s new Firebird doesn’t follow any of the ideas he utilized for the firebirds in his Little Humpbacked Horse. Not even Stella could carry off the orange circus pony head plumes in LHH. Ugh.
