Diana Vishneva:
"I very much hope that this is not the end of a great school,"
Vishneva, a People's Artist of Russia, the country's highest artistic
award, told the RIA Novosti news agency.
"There was no real reason for the change in leadership and there was
no discussion with anyone from the Saint Petersburg ballet world," she
said.
"The rector of the Vaganova Academy needs to be a person who has the
necessary education for this. It should not be forgotten that this is a
school — for children — and its leader should be morally
irreproachable."

Vishneva weighs in on Tsiskaridze’s appointment”
My hat is off to Vishneva for her statement. When I see her perform next week in her dance concert, I will applaud her loudly out of respect.

It’s never not a risk to publicly disagree with the authority that cuts your check. She has my respect, too. We’ll see if others (now retired) who owe their success to the Vaganova Academy will speak up.

On one hand, I totally see where she’s coming from and agree with her. The change was very badly done.
On the other hand, I feel like a bad person because i kind of want to break out the popcorn…
