Tulsa Ballet – Adiós

A Haglund's Heel crew enjoyed another performance of Tulsa Ballet Friday night.  Having initially familiarized ourselves with the dancers and dances on Opening Night, it is now even easier to say what a sharp, theater-oriented, attractive group this company is. Tightly rehearsed and disciplined, they sport the versatility and diversity of an early Joffrey company. (Remember when the mature Joffrey sat on bleachers for a half hour and passed around yellow Nerf balls in Charles Moulton’s experimental Panoramagram? No critic felt compelled to be nasty about choreographic content then or claim the dance maker had a limited vocabulary. For the record, Haglund loved Panoramagram.)

If you happened to miss Tulsa Ballet’s season at the Joyce Theater, they’ll be back our way next June to perform at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

Haglund wants to add his name to the growing list who thank Tulsa Ballet for their visit and a special thanks to the Tulsans who accompanied the dancers here.  We hope you both will come back soon.

And in what mea or mea not be a hint of culpa, the Times has a rather large picture of Elite Syncopations in its Sunday pictorial section The Week in Culture.
