RNZB – Official trailer for the movie Giselle

Check this out.

There seems to be a lot to look forward to here – not necessarily Giselle's NYC subway ride – but the Peasant PdD looks intriguing and the Wilis look gorgeous.  Apparently Albrecht performs the entrechat sixes in Act II instead of the dramatic diagonal of brises that AD Ethan Stiefel made so desperate and heroic when he danced the role with ABT.  Note how easily Albrecht lifts Giselle over his head.

Hopefully, the folks at Rialto Distribution will release this film in the U.S. soon.

Gillian Murphy has such an interesting face- I know that’s a strange thing to say, but she always reminds me of a Rossetti painting.
I’m excited about this: they look very beautiful together!

What a fabulous comparison, Emma. Rossetti had a real preference for red hair, didn’t he? Here are his “Elizabeth Siddal” and “Veronica Veronese.”

I’m really excited, too, to see her triumph in this role that she has been denied at ABT all these years.

Oh my! I really want to see this now. The production looks very invigorated judging by set design and of course Murphy’s somewhat anachronistic but classical looks.

Hi Genna. It’s going to be interesting to see how this new film compares to the awesome 1969 film of Fracci and Bruhn:

Hi Haglund, Rossetti did love red hair- I think all his most important muses (bar Jane Morris) were red heads. Those are two of my favorite paintings by him- Gillian looks so much like Elizabeth Sidley!
It is terrible that she hasn’t danced the role of Giselle at ABT- she has such a unique beauty and has more than proved her acting ability.
