The Royal New Zealand Ballet opened its Made to Move repertory evening in Wellington last night with three brand new works including one choreographed by Ethan Stiefel entitled Bier Halle to waltzes by Johann Straus II with Gillian Murphy and Qi Huan in the leads. To mark that occasion along with RNZB's 60th anniversary season, the local Wellington brewer, Garage Project, debuted a new craft beer, Hops on Pointe.
Here are a few of photos from the RNZB FB page of Stiefel's new work. Click to enlarge:
Javier de Frutos choreographed Anatomy of a Passing Cloud to Pacific Island sound clips, and Andrew Simmons created Of Days to music by
Dustin O'Halloran, Ludovico Einaudi and Olafur Arnalds. Here's an Of Days pic from the RNZB website:

Meanwhile, it sounds like the new RNZB Giselle feature film is coming together quickly. There has got to be some kind of a trailer in the works, and Haglund will keep his eyes out for it.

I keep trying to see if I could recognize the people from The Secret Lives of Dancers… 🙂

The 5th pic down is Abigail. You will recall that she hooked up with Sergio, who is now with the Aalto Ballett Theater in Essen, Germany. I read that a new season of Secret Lives is being filmed. Hopefully, Flowerbomb will be kind enough to upload the episodes for us again when they eventually air.

Bier Halle looks fun! (Off to see if there are YT news clips)
Yeah, Abigail is quite recognizable-as is Qi. 🙂
I was also hoping to see both Lucys in the pics. I only recently got to watch both seasons–somebody uploaded on YT. Unfortunately, season 2’s episode with Gillian was cut short, so I didn’t get to see more of her coaching.
I, too, hope we get to watch the new season. I want to see how Ethan has settled into the AD role now that he has a couple of years there. In season 2, he came off quite earnest/serious to me (not that that’s a bad thing), especially beside the old director’s flaming character. 🙂

Thanks for finding the clip, Kallima!
I’m not sure that I’m sold on all the choreography based on the YouTube bit, but so far the performance reviews and audience comments have been very complimentary. And the beer has been deemed tasty.

The group choreography in Bier Halle looks kinda fun and quite authentic (the guys’ dance) in the way it is adapted in a ballet. For the rest I would have to watch it as a whole I suppose, I can’t tell where it is going just from these bits.
