There's a Kickstarter effort for a new major documentary about Diana Vishneva which is being produced by Sam Cole and filmed by Emmy Award winner Buddy Squires (yes, it appears there will be significant slo-mo footage) with an expected theatrical release and DVD release by 2017. There is a six minute trailer of Diana Vishneva: Pivotal Pointe which includes some fine footage of rehearsal and performance of the final moments of Onegin among many other snips of film.
While we don't think for a moment that the Mariinsky Theatre will allow Diana's career to go by without a proper historical video record, one never knows how or to whom or when it would be released. There are always risks in plowing money into a project like this, but if the dance community doesn't do it, who will? That's not our recommendation to give money, just a recommendation to consider it.

Carlos Acosta is holding auditions for the new Cuban company that he is forming. They will be held on August 10 and 11th at the National School of Ballet Fernando Alonso located in Havana. We don't know the time of the auditions, unfortunately. Twelve dancers will get contracts, and the new company will be affiliated with the Dance Center of Havana which is being renovated by Carlos and starchitect Norman Foster.

Congratulations to Cassandra Trenary for her 2015 Princess Grace Foundation Honoraria Dance Fellowship. She looked quite fetching among her colleagues while performing in last evening's performance of Josua Beamish/Move: The Company at the Joyce Theater. Full winners list here.
