I saw this when it aired on MezzoHD a couple of years ago. Highly recommended. For anyone who knows and loves St. Petersburg, the finale will bring tears.

Carol! Thank you so much!

Thank you for the schedule.
I caught Mariinsky’s Sleeping Beauty and I’m enjoying The Fountain of Bakchisarai. Too bad we have no America’s ballet company that would mount a performance of Fountain.

Anastasia Matvienko was fantastic!

I totally agree. Anastasia was incredibly lovely in Fountain, and I especially enjoyed her PdDs with Xander Parish. Maybe I’m just a sucker for all the white tulle and white tights — but I could have watched them all day.

So is San Francisco Ballet the only US company committed to streaming complete filmed ballets? Lovely ANIMA ANIMUS (by Dawson) during past week, through tomorrow. SFB promises one new complete ballet per week. Bravo!

Carol, I’m with you on Mathias Heymann in A Suite of Dances. If I could dance, that’s probably the piece I’d most want to perform. It’s almost a form of dancing meditation, and I love the camaraderie with the cellist.
