ballet blog with occasional diversions

Nuts to NYT

Once again, the ever watchful eye of Google's analytics caught the NYT scouring Haglund's blog for help with ballet reviews.  This time, it seems they're flummoxed on what to write about Dances Patrelle, which opens its charming Yorkville Nutcracker tonight at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College with performances Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  NYCB's Jennifer Ringer and Jared Angle will perform the roles of Sugar Plum Fairy and Cavalier.  Call this number for tickets:  212-772-4448.  Here's hoping that NYT comes up with something original.

My daughter danced in Patrelle’s Nutcracker for a number of years, and it’s a wonderful production. The Kaye Theater gets you up close – not to take anything away from the Koch, but you can see everything from even the cheap seats. I’m happy to see it’s still going strong.

Hi kdt. It’s definitely still going strong. It’s a Nutcracker that really is about Old New York. I may not get to it this year but have enjoyed it many times in years past. It’s great to hear that Jennifer Ringer is finally returning to the stage after her long maternity leave.
