Haglund is quivering with excitement at the prospect of our own Simone Messmer debuting in the lead of Balanchine's Serenade when Miami City Ballet opens at Lincoln Center tonight. It is such a relief that this artist, who is an important American ballerina to eyes that know the art, is finally getting the prominent roles that she deserves. It's going to be one of those hankie nights.
We are so looking forward to seeing Simone back on the New York stage and can't wait to once again see the joyous and much admired Jeanette & Patricia Delgado, Tricia Albertson, and Jennifer Kronenberg. Here's the rest of tonight's casting:

Whatever we may think of his reviews I think this was good to see the last sentence in the review By ALASTAIR MACAULAY: Miami City Ballet, a Troupe at Home Outside Its Turf….Wonder what Simone’s old boss thinks of her now….watch out!!

Simone Messmer has extraordinary quality of movement, fluidity and musicality. I thought for sure she would be made principal at ABT. I’m sorry they (and NYC) lost her, but happy she is dancing the leading roles I think she deserves.

Agree, efantgirl. I’m working on a MCB review around taxes and preparing for a Tuesday exam. Hope to get it up soon.
