“Little Dancer” musical by Susan Stroman planned for Kennedy Center

While no casting has yet been announced, the producers released the information that NYCB's Tiler Peck portrayed the dancing & singing Little Dancer in the workshop production last summer.

The brand new production will take its inspiration from Degas' sculpture of The Little Dancer for which he used a 14-year-old student from the Paris Opera Ballet, and will open a six week run at the Kennedy Center's Eisenhower Theater in October of 2014.  According to Susan Stroman, the musical will be cast with strictly classical ballet dancers who can sing.

Michael Kaiser of KC said that the center is producing the musical by itself "with hopes that it will have a life later."  Is he talking about Broadway?

There just has to be a part in this musical for Robert Fairchild.

The Washington Post is all over this story.
