We got our special license plates painted up, and put a little extra air in the tires. The Gisellemobile will be on the road again in November to see Yuriko Kajiya and Jared Matthews as Giselle and Albrecht at the Detroit Opera House.
We are very excited to see this performance.

Thank you for this info, Haglund!! I grew up in Detroit and my parents still live there; I’ll let my mom know, as she may want to attend. (She is a ballet mom, but not the scary kind :))
I hope you will have a chance to explore downtown Detroit some during your trip. It’s really experiencing something of a renaissance. The architecture is fantastic – great examples of Art Deco, Beaux-Arts, neoclassical….the Detroit Opera House is really beautiful. The Detroit Institute of Arts is definitely worth a visit, and there are many good restaurants in places like downtown and Corktown and Eastern Market. Some you might consider are The Whitney (upscale American/continental in a historic mansion), Supino (takeout thin-crust pizza in Eastern Market), Mercury Bar (burgers in Corktown), Ottava Via (Italian/continental in Corktown), Joe Muer (seafood with a view of the river and Canada in the RenCen), Seva (vegetarian)…etc.! Oh, and Southwest Detroit and Mexicantown are known for outstanding Mexican restaurants.
Have a great trip! 🙂

Thank you, TGL, for the local info. I hope your mom and all the Detroit balletomanes will have a chance to see this Sunday performance. Yuriko and Jared are just outstanding together, and she is, quite simply, a miracle in the role of Giselle.
