. . . to pursue "other artistic challenges" so says the press release. Their future plans will be announced "shortly."
Let's hope those challenges are not located at ABT.
The press release says that their final London performance will be this Wednesday's Mayerling, and the two plan to keep their July tour commitments with the RB. Any wagers on that last part?
It really does look like Cojocaru was dumping challenging performances of Symphony in C at the RB in order to save herself for guest artist challenges (and accompanying Koch money) at ABT.
Who needs this sort of professionalism? If she's too injured to dance there, she's too injured to dance here.
Let Sarah Lane dance Swan Lake with Herman Cornejo.

So the Royal Ballet is losing Cojocaru but “gaining” Osipova. That aside, ABT direction should stop thwarting the logical development of its own dancers.

True, J.
I got some unofficial information this morning that Cojocaru has withdrawn from ABT’s S.L. No surprise. No surprise either that ABT continues to sell tickets with her name in the cast.
Many fingers are crossed that Sarah Lane will finally get a chance to dance this role in NY.
Apparently, several other cast changes are in the works due to injuries and personal family loss.

Haglund,
Maria Kochetkova has already been named as Cojocaru’s replacement on the website. Out one guest artist comes another.

Kochetkova is tiny, so Cornejo has an appropriate partner. Though I do not enjoy her dancing or performance skills, and will not say anything further on that, she has many admirers in San Francisco.

I haven’t cared for Kochetkova in any of the several performances that I’ve seen. I find her saccharine-like, without pleasing lines, and a tendency to punch through movement. She’s been throwing herself at ABT since her friend Simkin arrived.

Koch money. I think that says it all. Sure would like to see more of our American dancers. NYCB, good for you, and thank you!

FrmrDancer, you probably already know about the very dismal coaching situation at ABT. When they’ve got a former mediocre corpsman running rehearsals for principals and soloists in roles that he would never in his wildest dreams have ever gotten close to, it’s apparent that ABT has no interest in organic growth.

So…Tuesday’s Corsaire now says Gomes and Whiteside with Matvienko out. And this is assuming Gillian is actually feeling well enough to perform.
Based on positioning of names it looks like Marcelo has been moved to Conrad and Whiteside is doing Ali? BUMMER. Hope Matvienko makes it back for Saturday evening. AND that someone comes to their senses and lets an ABT corps dancer do Ali if it comes to that. Do I really need to see Simkin, Vasiliev or Whiteside ham up such an iconic role? (And here’s hoping Ivan isn’t orange like last year for his performances.) I was so looking forward to Marcelo doing it. Too bad Herman is too short for the pdd with Gillian.

However, in better news, Jared got Alex’s parts in Sylvia. Just pray he stays healthy enough for his lead on Wednesday!
