Ballet Nacional del Sodre Swan Lake premiere

Listen to this incredible ovation that Julio Bocca's Ballet Nacional del Sodre received last night at the premiere of its new and completely sold-out Swan Lake. Listen to the roar when principals Maria Riccetto and Ciro Tamayo came out and then again when Julio presented the flowers to Maria. God bless Julio for bringing Maria's Odette to the stage and accomplishing what Kevin McKenzie wouldn't even lift a finger to try to do.

Thanks to Ro Gutiérrez for the clip.

Hopefully I’ll be able to find some performance pictures to share.

I know that Maria took a year off from ABT, but since she did not return after 1 year, does that mean she has left ABT for good?

Hi, k. It’s my understanding from reading her interviews and from comments by Julio that Maria made the choice to sever her relationship with ABT when the end to her year-long sabbatical was near. The reasons had something to do with family, boyfriend, and professional opportunities. Julio has MacMillan’s R&J, a new DonQ, and Makarova’s La Bayadere lined up for next year. Also, there is a rumor flying around that the company will visit Lincoln Center next summer.
