So far this week, the newspaper critics have restrained their snark and clearly enjoyed ABT’s rep program at the Kennedy Center. There’s lots more week to come, however. The Washington Post online has two gorgeous pictures uploaded: Stella Abrera and Gennadi Saveliev in Seven Sonatas and Eric Tamm and Gilllian Murphy in Birthday Offering. NYT's review is here.
Haglund is so glad that Eric Tamm is getting this well-deserved, well-earned opportunity at the Kennedy Center and cannot wait to see him at The Met this spring. All people should look for him in the castings.
Meanwhile, for those missing Kristi Boone in Washington, she’s on loan to Morphoses where she is dancing the lead in Ratmansky’s Bolero on that company’s tour – and getting the spotlight time that will make her all the more confident and stunning this spring. Here’s what the folks in San Francisco said about her.
Veronika Part will be performing Swan Lake with the Croatian National Theatre-Split in February. If you read Croatian, here’s the link. If you don't, go here. Is it too early to start the petition to persuade Veronika to wear for ABT’s Opening Night Spring Gala the teal dress by Christian Cota that she wore on David Letterman? Haglund doesn’t think any of us have seen enough of that dress yet. No ballerinas in boring black for that final curtain call of the evening this year.
