ABT in Brisbane, Australia
The Trumpeter Swan Queen in Queensland

On Friday, August 29th at 7:30pm, the considerably-sized local ballet intelligentsia will get a chance to witness the most majestic, musical, and captivating Odette/Odile in America. The one who defines resplendent, defines luminosity, defines love's will to overcome imprisonment will land on stage and crush the hearts in the Queensland Performing Arts Center. Prepare yourselves to be devastated by Veronika Part:

If you can only see one Swan Lake while ABT is in town, make it Veronika's.

Who can more beautifully execute that miming in Act II? It’s always wonderful to see that Gene Schiavone picture. For me, it’s one of the most beautiful images of Swan Lake that exists, and it’s one of the few still images of Part that captures just what makes her so special.

    True, FoF.
When I watch Veronika do the mime, I always feel like I’m hearing Odette’s story for the very first time.
It’s a shame that the Aussies aren’t getting her with Gomes – the absolute best pairing that the country has to offer. I hope that this match-up with Whiteside in Brisbane is not a “try-out” for this spring at the Met during which ABT will celebrate its 75th season by once again failing to give us its best Swan Lake in order to balance out the mediocrity. I’m not interested in seeing anyone make a joke out of Siegfried.
