It is Grrrrreat news to see on ABT's calendar that Blaine Hoven will dance the role of Aminta in Sylvia on the evening of May 11th. We hope that he takes over the stage – Takes. It. Over. – like we know he can. We expect his partner to flub the more challenging elements, like that pirouette that goes into a promenade arabesque, and that everyone will mistakenly blame Aminta. But we know that Blaine will be magnificent in his debut. We just wish that it would be opposite Stella Abrera. Ditto with La Fille mal Gardee. They would be fabulous together.
With the fill-ins on the schedule, it is now apparent that despite ABT's massive advertising to the contrary David Hallberg isn't likely to be part of the spring Met Season. He is scheduled to dance with the Bolshoi Ballet in London for their season from July 25 thru August 13. So what gives? Where's the explanation from ABT? They just keep shoving the brochures with his name and picture into mailboxes when they have known (since how long ago?) that he wouldn't be dancing.

I have been wondering whatever happened to Hallberg, there just seems to have been total silence and glad you have confirmed his Bolshoi performances Haglund!! I am not surprised with all the secrecy from the US team! I have been taking my time with ticket purchases this year… waiting for the musical chairs to stop!

True HF. Transparency is not ABT’s strong suit. They could do a lot better. And if they’ve imposed a gag order on Hallberg not to disclose anything, well, shame on them. Their method of managing bad news is to simply deny it through silence, which in my view is dishonest.

And we are not surprised! 🙁 which is why I am always hesitant to purchase my tickets ahead of time and be disappointed again and again!
