An American in Paris will close its Broadway run at the Palace Theatre on October 9th. This fantastic production's 10 month/28 city U.S. tour begins that same week with stops in:

How time flies…
The Ho Chi Minh City Ballet will present a program of Balanchine's Serenade and Chloé Glemot's Bolero on August 19th and October 19 on the stage of the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House. Even though it's been more than 20 years since the normalization of U.S.–Vietnam relations, this city's recovery and advancement has been nothing short of miraculous to those of us who remember Saigon from its tragic ever-presence in the daily news in the 1960s and '70s or those who had the misfortune of actually being there during those decades.

ABT has suddenly gotten a little more practical with the publication of casting. There are some Haglund'eelers in Europe who are pretty excited about the cast fill-out for the September 6 performance of Sleeping Beauty in Paris: Abrera, Hammoudi, Part, Gomes, Teuscher, Cirio, Lane. The locals are going to be so proud of their native son. Haglund saw Hammoudi's debut as Prince Désiré during the premiere season in Costa Mesa, and he was wonderful.
The fall casting has some enticing tidbits as well. Does everyone remember how Irina Dvorovenko's unstoppable Siren – ummm, how shall we say this delicately – "took care of" Daniil Simkin's Prodigal Son? She wrapped herself around his tender little body, and then he peered out at the audience with his 12-year-old frightened face to create a most troubling image. That was one heck of a performance. We imagine that Veronika Part's Siren could take it all to a dangerous new level when she straps on the leather and chains debuts opposite Simkin on the opening night of Prodigal Son this fall. Who will dare miss that?

By the way, our AZALEAS in Damrosch Park could use some water. It's not good to see a tender young corps dancer wither in this way:
