Haglund was wandering around the Upper West Side and observed Michele Wiles hanging out right in front of the American Bible Society at Broadway & 61st in all her sensual glory as Sylvia. Now is that something that the real Sylvia would dare do? You bet she would.
Haglund loves Sylvia. One of his favorite moments is when Eros shoots an arrow into Sylvia's heart and she limps and stumbles on pointe before pulling the arrow out of herself. It's pure genius.
Some interesting casting tweaks turned up on the ABT website recently. Roman Zhurban will be featured in Kudelka's Desir in the cast with Xiomara Reyes. A wonderful opportunity for a very deserving young man.
Also, the Myrta in the Saturday matinee of Giselle is now a TBA. Haglund will wildly speculate that either McKenzie has finally gotten Ms. Abrera back on her feet after a year long injury OR perhaps we will see
another debut. Perhaps Kristi Boone will have the opportunity to shove her real life Hilarion, Isaac Stappas, into the drink – ker-splash. That is almost too delicious a drama to desire.

Oh, yeah. Maria would be a fearsome (and lovely) Myrta. She’s a fabulous Bathilda, too. Without outright messing around with the libretto, wouldn’t it be interesting to have Bathilda and Myrta danced by the same person? That would terrorize Albrecht even more.
