The Australian Ballet – NYC 6/12 – 6/17

The Australian Ballet has combined forces with the country's indigenous dance company, Bangarra Dance Theatre, to create a dance that has its roots in Aboriginal astronomy.  Warumuk – in the dark night, choreographed on the combined companies by Bangarra's director, Stephen Page, recounts Aboriginal myths of the shifting night skies in Arnhem Land from the first evening star to the morning star and is set to an original composition by Page's brother, David.  Warumuk will be part of Aussie Ballet's repertory program at the Koch Theater on June 12 and 13 and will include dancers from Bangarra Dance Theatre.  Here are three production photos from the Bangarra Dance Theatre's FB page:

AB has set up a web section geared toward its upcoming trip to New York during which it will also present Graeme Murphy's contemporary Swan Lake, Wayne McGregor's Dyad 1929 and Luminous which is a collection of the company's divertissements enhanced with a multimedia backdrop.  The NYCB Orchestra will provide the music.
