Holy Zeppole

It's that time of year again!  Next weekend (May 19 & 20), the Ninth Avenue International Food Festival convenes in Hell's Kitchen for the 39th year.  Ah, the delicious corn-on-the-cob on top of shark kebobs on top of funnel cakes on top of turkey drum sticks all swirling around in a warm beer in the tummy.  Mmm mmm good.

And as if this wasn't enough to celebrate, NYCB is serving up a new dish or two that weekend.  Friday night, May 18th, Rebecca Krohn (one of Haglund's favorite ballerinas), Chase Finlay, and Emily Kikta all debut in the first movement of Brahms-Schoenberg Quartet.  Come to think of it, both of those women would make tempting Sirens to a Finlay Prodigal Son some day.  Ms. Kikta looked pretty good in the back of the DGV corps the other night.  She reminds Haglund a lot of the very athletic, statuesque Drew Jacoby – which may or may not serve her well where she is.  While at times it seems to be a detriment in corps work, it could turn out to be an advantage in true soloist roles – we'll have to wait and see.

It will be a welcome sight to see Mr. Finlay back on stage after so long an absence.  He will also be in the new cast of Liebeslieder Waltz the next evening – May 19.

And tonight – Symphony in C returns!
