Hi Kallima. I’ll be watching, too. The Guggenheim’s Works & Process live-stream connection is not always faultless. So, don’t be surprised if something goes wrong.

Right now I wish it worked at all for me. The sound is very fragmentary and the video part is nonexistant, except for a new still image every minute or so. I hope this will change when the dancing starts because it would otherwise be useless to watch, regardless of how nice the music is. 😉

It suddenly got better as David Hallberg appeared on the panel. Magic! I hope it remains like this. Otherwise I will have to hope for the library later, yes.

Oh well. You missed the best dancing: Stella Abrera, Veronika Part, Jared Matthews, Sarah, and Yuriko. Granted this is supposed to be danced in rehearsal clothing, but Semionova and her bra strap hanging out the back is beyond tacky. Really tacky.

Oh no 🙁 Well I hope this will be up in the library in a couple of days as I was mainly looking forward to the section with the dancers you mentioned. The strap also caught my eyes. I think some aspects should always be dressed correctly, and this would be one of them. What I found more insightful was that the feedback Semionova got did confirm my impression of her – she can do the things and isn’t bad, but absolutely blank in my eyes. Not even Marcelo Gomes (!) could change that. And the feedback she got was mainly about things that would help her be less blank in her performance.

True Kallima. There are two dozen home grown dancers in ABT who could do what Semionova did tonight and do it better without their underwear hanging out. Bringing her in and immediately vaulting her to the top over all the other principals and soloists was a big mistake and offensive to many.

Polina is following in the Carrie Bradshaw tradition of underwear visibility. Marcelo’s torn tights, creeping up on a bare leg, was not very attractive either. They both seem to be taking seriously the directions to wear practice clothes.
