Here it is almost two months later and NYCB still proudly proclaims on the front of its website that it promoted ELEVEN of its own dancers. Maybe the company should keep it on the front page of the site all year long. It means a lot. It means that the organization's First Class coaching team is skillfully developing its talent organically. It means that the company isn't throwing money at imports while its own dancers wither on the vine. It means that they're building up this city's and country's culture from its very core (and corps) in a way that we all can be proud.
And so it's time to celebrate again that NYCB's spring season is nearly upon us. It's less than two weeks away and some fabulous casting has been announced. Maria Kowroski in Slaughter on Tenth Avenue; Ashley Bouder in Stars & Stripes; Fairchild, Peck, Scheller, and Stafford in Who Cares. That's just a little of the first week.
Let the dancing begin.
