NYCB opens Tuesday

NYCB opens its Fall Season this coming Tuesday, and there is lots to be excited about during just the first two weeks including:

  • Ashley Bouder’s debut in Duo Concertant opposite Robert Fairchild
  • Tiler Peck’s debut as Terpsichore and Lauren Lovette as Calliope
  • Theme and Variations led by Tiler Peck and Joaquin De Luz followed by Ashley Bouder and Gonzalo Garcia
  • The premiere of the new Ratmansky piece to Mussorgsky featuring Sara Mearns, Tiler Peck, Abi Stafford, Wendy Whelan, Gretchen Smith, Tyler Angle, Adrian Danchig-Waring, Gonzalo Garcia, Amar Ramasar, and Joseph Gordon.
  • The match-up of Rebecca Krohn with a debuting Amar Ramasar in Monumentum Pro Gesualdo and Movements for Piano and Orchestra. Oh, that will be fabulous.

Andrew Vyette has a very light schedule for the first two weeks. What's going on there? We still don’t have either Ana Sophia Scheller or Jennie Somogyi back yet.

2014-2015, here we go . . . .

And there’s more!! Reichlen’s debut (with an almost all new cast) in Agon, Mearns’ debut (with Chase Finlay) in Mozartiana. Also, Tiler Peck is scheduled for Donizetti Variations; I haven’t seen her in it, but it seems like a great role for her. My bank account is rapidly emptying . . .

Hi, John. My bank account is going in the same direction, particularly since I couldn’t stop myself from buying a slew of La Sylphide tickets for 2015.

Reminder: Tiler Peck will not be dancing at NYCB after the first two weeks, or perhaps after the third week (that’s not yet been made clear), of the Fall season. She’ll also be away for the run of the Nutcracker. According to the article in last Sunday’s NY Times, she’ll be returning for the Winter and Spring seasons. But if you’re a fan, you might want to catch her between 9/23 and 10/5. In addition to the roles already listed, she’s scheduled to dance Balanchine’s Tchaikovsky pas de deux a couple of times in week two.

Thanks much, John. Yep, I’m a fan and will be at most of the performances.
