    Hi Farmazon.
    Soboleva is a graduate of the Bolshoi school and spent three years in the Bolshoi’s corps before moving to the Mikhailovsky Theatre as a soloist.
    Thanks for pulling out those clips. She is, indeed, lovely although watching her dance in front of that striped backdrop made me queasy. I can’t wait to see her.
    Soboleva’s picture on the Mikhailovsky website suggests she could be the sister of our own Sarah Lane.

    Alas, it’s very clear that her training was in Moscow, not in St. Petersburg. She lacks that Vaganova upper body plasticity. Now that I’ve seen it in the Mariinsky dancers such as Veronika Part, and others who have been influenced by them, I want it in all my ballerinas.
